GENERAL RULES
The following rules have been prescribed to ensure equal fairness for all participants. Please read them carefully before applying to participate in the Arts Integra Master Classes. By entering, you agree that you have read the rules at www.artsintegra.com, and certify that all conditions will be complied with in respect to each entry. Failure to comply with any of the provisions of the following rules shall render the participant liable to disqualification.
GOVERNANCE
The Arts Integra Master Classes are non-competitive informative classes under the jurisdiction of the Arts Integra International Festival Competition for Music and the Arts and Arts Integra Centre for Music and the Arts Inc.
ELIGIBILITY
Participants must be over 12 years of age and demonstrate a high level of proficiency in the area of expertise.
Participants may enter as often they wish, providing class restrictions are strictly observed.
Performers in groups of 3 or more must be bona fide members of their organizations.
SUBMISSIONS
Participants may enter in as many categories as they like as long as repertoire is different for each submission – a separate registration must be completed for each discipline.

There is a possibility that Participants may have their performances highlighted on the website at www.artsintegra.com, or at future dates or events in addition to the Arts Integra International Festival Competition of Music and the Arts Gala Concert.
Registrations must be received (not postmarked), fully and accurately completed, in the Festival Competition Office no later than 6pm on Sunday, February 1st, 2009. Please apply early. In order that processing and scheduling can be completed as early as possible, late registrations will not be accepted.
Registrations must be completed in full, and must include the following information:
• Preferred Discipline area in which you are participating (Piano, Voice, Drama etc…) Participants may choose more than one area in which to attend. Special arrangements from Schools and Community groups may be made for the Adjudicator or Master Teacher to attend them at an alternate date and location. Please check the website for details at www.artsintegra.com.
• A list of three chosen pieces of repertoire that may be worked on during the Master Class
• Name of the composer/arranger/ author
• Relevant repertoire numeration codes (Opus [Op.], BWV, Hoboken [Hob.], Kochel [K.], WoO, Anh. etc.)
• Full title of piece and movement numbers if available.
• Movement name [i.e., First Movement: Allegro con brio] if applicable.
• Mini Résumé about who you are including your Music or Drama background
• List of accomplishments and experience
Incomplete registrations may result in the levying of an additional processing fee or may result in rejection. Please complete all sections of the form carefully. The Executive Committee may, at its discretion, refuse any entry, which it considers to be incompatible with the aims and objectives of the Festival, and/or limit the number of participants.
Fees must accompany registrations: Fees should be made online, and include a $10 processing fee per registration. Forms that are incomplete or require clarification will incur an additional processing fee of $5.00. N.S.F. funds will incur a $50 fee.
Once a registration is submitted, fees are non-refundable for any reason, except under circumstances where the Executive Committee rejects registration.
There will be no changes permitted of any kind once entry submissions have been received. All entry applications will be reviewed.
REPERTOIRE
Master Class Repertoire may include pieces performed during the Festival Competition, works currently being studied, or new pieces, which may be of interest to the performer. Although memorization of repertoire is encouraged, it is not required.
All selections must be at the competitor’s current level of study, unless otherwise specified. Current level of study must be shown on the registration form.
“Current level of study” is the Conservatory level being studied as of December 31st, 2008. If no conservatory examination has been taken in the year prior to the Festival Competition, the teacher must assign a level, based on his/her estimation of the competitor’s level of study in relation to existing Conservatory grades. This level must be reflected in the majority of selections entered.
Original copies from the actual edition of the selection of pieces that you wish to work on should be submitted to the Platform Marshall prior to the beginning of the Master Class. Please include measure numbers at the beginning of each line of your score.

ACCOMPANIMENT
An accompanist will be provided for an additional fee of $40.00 per discipline entry; however, performers may bring their own accompanist if they prefer. Performers who require piano accompaniment for their pieces must be sure to indicate this on the registration form.
A chord may be given on the piano at the commencement of each piece of unaccompanied music. Only Piano or Guitar accompaniment will be accepted during the Master Classes.
PHOTOCOPIES
It is unlawful to copy any portion of music or text without authorization from the copyright holder. To do so is a violation of the Canadian Copyright Act. Use of copied music will result in disqualification.
In most cases, photocopying music scores is illegal. COMPETITORS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE PHOTOCOPIES IN THIS FESTIVAL COMPETITION OR MASTERCLASSES unless the legal, written authorization of the publisher has been obtained.
Accompanists must use ORIGINAL copies of the score during the performance. The Festival Competition reserves the right to disqualify any participant whose accompanist does not have an original score clearly visible during the performance.
Participants and Accompanists, who wish to use legal sheet copies of scores downloaded from the Internet, must apply to the Festival Competition Office for a Permission slip by March 1st, 2009. To qualify for a Permission Slip, suitable and full documentation must be presented to the Festival Competition Office to ensure that the competitor has permission from the publisher, or that the issuing website is legally licensed to sell the copy. Receipts, etc. must be provided, showing that the music has been legally purchased. The Festival reserves the right to disqualify any participant who cannot produce an original copy, or who presents an Internet copy without the Permission Slip. Last-minute acceptance cannot be guaranteed.
MASTER CLASS PROCEDURES
The Executive Committee of Arts Integra Centre for Music and the Arts Inc., reserves the right, at it’s sole discretion, reserves the right to alter times and durations of performances, dates, combine, change, move or cancel any or all classes, change venues, clinicians, adjudicators or Master Teachers at any time without notice.
Conductors, parents, guardians, or delegated members of the teaching staff must be directly responsible for their wards from the time of arrival to departure. Each group entry must secure and provide adequate supervision of students at all times to ensure an appropriate level of respect for all performances, workshops, adjudications and property at Festival Competition venues. Adult supervision must be present at all times. Participants must conduct themselves with the highest levels of deportment at all times. Deportment and appearance are important to a polished performance. Suitable stage attire and footwear should be worn.
The Adjudicator, Master Teachers and Executive Committee may, at their sole discretion, award Scholarships to competitors, who, in their opinion, show a great deal of promise in the future development of their discipline. Scholarships may be awarded to participants, as funds are made available. All Educational Scholarships must be used for the continuance of the participant’s Artistic Education. Decisions of adjudicators are final.
A mandate of Arts Integra is to create performing opportunities for young musicians. Consequently, any Festival Competition participant, including Outstanding Performer Award winners, may be invited, at the discretion of the Executive Committee, without remuneration or payment for incidental expenses, to perform at other events sponsored throughout the year by Arts Integra Centre for Music and the Arts Inc.
Arts Integra Centre for music & the Arts Inc. may not be held responsible or reliable in any way for any accidents or injuries, or loss or damage to person or property that might occur as a result of participation in or association with this competition or any of its related Master Classes, workshops or Lessons. Performers and their parties will be held personally responsible for any and all damages to the venue, equipment, or any other property not belonging to them.
Candidates will perform in sequence as outlined by the Festival competition committee.
The Adjudicator or Master Teacher shall have discretionary power to stop any performance at any time.
Performances will have a combined time limit of 8 minutes unless specified otherwise.
Participants are not allowed to rehearse or warm-up in the Venue prior to or during the Festival Competition Master Classes. Where possible, warm-up rooms may be made available, but this cannot be guaranteed.
Participants and accompanists should be ready to perform 15 minutes before the scheduled time of their performance. Participants and audience must be in their assigned seats at the start of the event, and must stay for the duration of the event (except as authorized by the Festival Competition Office). Participants who are not ready to perform when called by the Platform Marshal may not be allowed to perform.
At no time are competitors or others permitted to enter into any discussion or correspondence with the Adjudicators. Please direct all questions to the Platform Marshal or to the Festival Competition Office. Decisions of adjudicators are final.
At no time are photography (with or without flash), videotaping or audio recording of performances or adjudications permitted, and no use of cell phones or other electronic equipment is permitted in the performance hall while the Festival Competition Master Classes are in progress, except as authorized in advance by the Festival Competition Office.
Anyone who detracts from a performance or adjudication or is in any way disruptive will be removed from the hall, and no refund will be given. Arts Integra reserves the right to remove individuals who cause a disturbance during the performance. We also reserve the right to refuse admission to those individuals who have displayed disruptive behaviors in the past.
QUESTIONS AND PROTESTS
The above regulations have been devised to ensure a level playing field for all participants. Any concerns about them must be raised solely and directly with the Executive Director, and not with Festival staff or volunteers. Under no circumstances are volunteers working at venues to be approached regarding questions or protests about the rules. Any participants or auditors not adhering to these rules may be removed from the Master Class session immediately. Failure to comply with the rules and regulations may disqualify the participant or auditor and/or their teacher from this and future Competitions or events.
Questions and protests must be made in writing, and addressed directly to the Executive Director, Arts Integra Centre for Music and the Arts, 132 Main Street, Unionville, ON, L3R 2G4 or emailed to info@artsintegra.com within twenty-four (24) hours of any incident.
Any questions not dealt with in these rules shall be referred to the Executive Director.

MISSION STATEMENT
The goal of the Arts Integra International Festival Competition for Music and the Arts is to promote and encourage the learning and experience of creating art through music, drama, dance, and the literary and visual arts by bringing the Arts to the community, and the community to the Arts.
