DRAMA
|
Students have the opportunity to participate in group classes, private lessons, and a variety of Main-stage productions throughout the year. These performance-oriented programs are designed to encourage self-expression and confidence for students who enjoy learning creatively through acting, singing, dancing, and imagination. Group Drama Classes:Students have fun gaining insight into many aspects of drama; including basic performance skills, creative dramatics, speech/diction and vocal techniques, drama games, scene-development, monologue, pantomime, audition techniques, serious drama, comedy, and musical theatre. Classes focus on character study, script development, stage direction, improvisation and movement, which culminate in performances for the public. Acceptance into the program is by audition only. Private Classes:Individually designed private instruction offer a more concentrated development of acting skills, delving deeper into character development and personal presentation style, supported by teachers in an encouraging environment. Students with leading roles may be encouraged to take advantage of registering for private classes in preparation of public performance. Main-Stage Productions:Participants engage in the main stage performance chosen for each term. All students are considered for leading roles, regardless of age or ability. Students of all ages are welcome. We even will accept supernumeraries. It is strongly encouraged that students who want to be considered for lead musical roles register for private voice lessons. The Main Stage THEATRE Productions are produced at the Markham Theatre for the Performing Arts. Please see our THEATRE page for details on our current production.
